New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Saturday that victims of the attack were from across the Muslim world, underscoring the global impact of the attack.

In a statement posted online, Sunday, police said officers were continuing to work "closely and extensively with partners to identify the injured and deceased victims of the Christchurch attack".

Police were able to neutralize two devices: an improvised explosive device at one of the mosques and another device found in the suspect's vehicle, which was also rendered safe.

At a roadblock outside the Al Noor mosque on Sunday, about 40 people were standing in silence near scores of bunches of flowers.

Pacific Islands Forum Chair and president of Nauru Baron Waqa expressed his "deepest condolences" to the people and government of New Zealand on what he called a sad day for Christchurch and a sad day for the region.

"We are a Forum family and what affects one, affects all".

New Zealand's attorney general, David Parker, took it step farther and vowed to ban semi-automatic guns at a vigil on Saturday, but later backtracked as reported by The New York Times. "We as a health system are here to support everyone in our community". Tarrant also published a link to the manifesto on a right-wing forum, and another link on the same forum to a personal Facebook page with the video that would soon document the slaughter.

Khokhur, 58, and husband Mehaboobbhai Khokhur, 65, had travelled from India to spend time with their son Imran, their first visit in the eight years since he moved to New Zealand.

The attack came during Friday prayers when the mosques were filled with hundreds of worshippers.

Mass shootings at New Zealand mosques kill 49; 1 man charged
The man who claimed responsibility for the shooting said: "he came to New Zealand only to plan and train for the attack". In the video, the killer spends more than two minutes inside the mosque spraying terrified worshippers with gunfire.

"This act of terror was brought to our shores and rained down upon us".

Tarrant on Saturday was charged with only one count of murder, though Prime Minister Ardern assured the public that more charges will be added as the judicial process continues.

The Fijian rugby team also expressed their solidarity with the people of New Zealand after the attacks.

An interfaith prayer session outside the Christchurch memorial, following the shooting.

"My message was, "Sympathy and love for all Muslim communities".

Two other suspected accomplices have also been arrested. "To see so many innocent lives taken so callously and cruelly in this place of sanctuary is totally unacceptable".

NZ authorities believe there was only one shooter involved in the attack on the two mosques in Christchurch, the worst shooting in the country's history.

Gun control expert Philip Alpers suggested that Ardern's quick response to the attack may indicate that New Zealand will address the availability of military-style semi-automatic rifles as promptly as Australia did after a mass shooting in 1996. "We will do whatever we can to help them heal and rise above this awful tragedy".

During her press conference, Arden said banning such weapons was "certainly one of the issues that I'm looking at with immediate effect".
