The last date for announcing the World Cup squads is 23 April but BCCI has made a decision to announce it eight days prior to the scheduled day.

Indian selectors will announce the team for the World Cup on Monday.

Out of team which has been announced so far for the cricket world cup, only New Zealand has unveiled its 15-member squad which will be followed by India, today.

Having made a conscientious effort to pick the best for ODIs, starting with the tour of South Africa in early 2018, it should not be tall ask for the selectors to name the 15 for the World Cup. "Now, it's about giving guys their roles and expect them to stand up".

While Kohli said India are looking to fill just one more spot, the selectors would know that they have more than one spot to fill and various combinations to look at.

Apart from solving the Pant-Karthik puzzle, the committee, along with captain Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri, will also have to decide on Ambati Rayudu's fate, which seems to be hanging by a slender thread.

A little over two months ago, when the team for the five-match home ODI series against Australia was decided, the choice of Rishabh Pant at the expense of Dinesh Karthik set off a debate. Another reason that makes Rahul's case strong is his ability to play as back-up keeper. But if the selectors would consider all-rounder Vijay Shankar for the No. 4 slot then Rayudu will have no chance of making it to the team.

Another possible headache for the selectors could be whether to settle for a third spinner in form of Ravindra Jadeja or the fourth pacer.
