AG Barr: 'I think spying did occur' against Trump campaign

Attorney General William Barr told Congress Tuesday he expects to release his redacted version of the special counsel's Trump-Russia investigation report "within a week", while Democrats criticized his handling of the long-awaited document and demanded he turn it over in full.
The president's comments came a day after Barr testified at a congressional hearing that he believes "spying did occur" on the campaign, suggesting the origins of the Russian Federation investigation that shadowed Trump's presidency for almost two years may have been mishandled.
Spying on the Trump campaign certainly occurred.
"I'm a lawyer, I'm not in charge of health care", Barr insisted to a House Appropriations subcommittee. They have expressed concerns that Barr, recently appointed by Trump, is attempting to cover up negative findings about the president.
When Barr said he believed there was "spying" against the Trump campaign he explicitly compared that to spying on civil rights and anti-war activists during the 1960s.
He did not go into details about what might have prompted the new investigation. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire.
The Mueller report was submitted to the USA attorney general last month and the investigation did not find proof that Donald Trump colluded with Russian Federation in the 2016 elections in the U.S. Also, there was no evidence that the White House obstructed justice during the investigation. "We watched it, yes he did say he thought spying occurred, but then he later on said I don't know or think any rules were broken".
AG Barr was asked about spying by Senator Jerry Moran (R-KS).

Barr stammered a bit. "I think spying did occur", he said.
"I feel that I have an obligation to ensure government power was not abused", he said. "Perpetuating conspiracy theories is beneath the office of the Attorney General".
"Barr's testimony revealed a mindset that is consistent with the Trump narrative of an Federal Bureau of Investigation that is out to get him", McQuade said.
More than an hour after Barr first used the spying word, Schatz asked Barr if he wanted to rephrase what he is doing with the review. "You normally are, and I want to give you a chance to be especially precise here".
Barr didn't suggest at that time, however, that there may have been "unauthorized surveillance".
I am not saying that improper surveillance occurred; I'm saying that I am concerned about it and looking into it, that's all. "Is that more appropriate in your mind?" Susan Collins, R-Maine, told Barr at the hearing, noting that the ACA has a severability clause that enables pieces of it to be removed without the entire law falling.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Representative Jerrold Nadler reacted on Twitter saying Barr's "comments directly contradict what DOJ previously told us".
"This process is going along very well and my original timetable of being able to release this by mid-April stands", Barr said.
