It was last Thursday when RA first announced its intention to sack the three-times John Eales Medal victor after Folau made public two religious posts attacking, among others, gay and transgender people.

A former club and country team-mate of Israel Folau has issued a stinging put-down following the full-back's decision to challenge his attempted sacking by Rugby Australia.

It was not the first time that the Australian worldwide had expressed such a belief.

RA said Folau's request for a code of conduct hearing was "not an unexpected outcome".

The hearing process will involve a panel of three - a representative of RA, a representative of the players' union RUPA and an independent person approved by both organisations, who would be the chair.

Declaring on Monday that Folau was in breach of contract, Castle said: "Following the events of past year, Israel was warned formally and repeatedly about the expectations of him as a player for the Wallabies and NSW Waratahs with regards to social media use and he has failed to meet those obligations". The report says the lack of social media clauses are central to his defence.

"Given the history, and as Folau is a public figure, RA is likely to have grounds for taking disciplinary action which may include termination of his contract".

Rugby Australia will now make arrangements with the Rugby Union Players' Association for the hearing.

The Left Alliance, similarly, improved noticeably from the previous elections, winning 16 seats with a vote share of 8.2 per cent. Mr Rinne, a 56-year-old former union leader, said:"For the first time in a long time, Social Democrats are the largest party".

It was criticised by politicians, rugby stars and fans across the world.

Wallabies head coach Michael Cheika said earlier this week that he would not be able to select the back for his side again.

Beaten in the 2015 World Cup final by New Zealand, Australia are coming off their worst season in decades and have fallen to number six in the world, with few giving them much chance of lifting the silverware in Japan.

Following a service at the Truth Of Jesus Christ Church, he told the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper: "I share it with love". "Whatever His will is, whether that's to continue playing or not, I'm more than happy to do what He wants me to do".

From those comments, Folau appears to be suggesting he is done with rugby. Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter Beattie said last week he had failed the sport's character test and would not get a contract.

"It's up to Todd (Greenberg), really, and from what Todd's come out and said about how they've backed up same-sex marriage, I don't think that will be allowed", Marshall told NRL 360 on Fox League. "Reading what he said after it, there's no apology, I just can't see a way back for him and I think that's quite sad to be honest with you".
