Authorities are now in a desperate hunt for suspects linked to the bloodshed.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said militants who may have explosives remain on the loose in the country and "may go out for a suicide attack".

President Maithripala Sirisena met Thursday with political party leaders and announced he would revive a military-police body last used during the country's fight against Tamil insurgents to coordinate operations after the bombings.

The army, navy and air force poured more than 3,000 additional troops onto the streets to help police.

Britain advised its citizens against travelling to the island country.

Since the suicide bombings on churches and hotels, in which more than 250 people were killed, police have been conducting raids across Sri Lanka to find more details about the perpetrators and their supporters.

Muslims in Sri Lanka were urged to pray at home and not after the State Intelligence Services warned of possible auto bomb attacks, amid fears of retaliatory violence. In Colombo, John Keells Holdings, the parent company of the Cinnamon Grand hotel, one of the sites targeted in the Easter Sunday bombings, told employees at its various hotel properties to stay inside "further to the communications we have received" in an email shared with the AP.

Nine people are suspected of carrying out the attacks.

Two more people, a man and a woman, blew themselves up at another location as security forces launched a raid, killing three police, sources said.
