Missing the playoffs for the first time in 13 seasons didn't seem to be a big deal for LeBron James, who was atop the NBA's jersey sales during his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

It was far from the fairytale debut season for James at the Lakers.

James was responding to the premise of an upcoming segment on ESPN's show, 'First Take'.

Based on NBAStore.com sales from the start of the 2018/19 regular season, the list puts James above Stephen Curry with the top-selling jersey and the Lakers ahead of the Golden State Warriors as the top-selling team in the National Basketball Association. At the bottom of the screen, he saw a report that the Lakers were working on repairing their relationship with him.

The Lakers ended up finishing the season ranked 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 37-45.

In a video posted to Instagram, James recorded ESPN's chyron, which read, 'Dave McMenamin says Lakers have a lot of work to do to fix relationship with LeBron'.

Ostensibly, James was upset that an ESPN insider was suggesting there was friction between himself and the Lakers brass.

Magic Johnson's surprise resignation followed by Luke Walton's departure at the end of the season has put the Lakers in a precarious position heading into an important offseason.
