George R R Martin sets the record straight

16 Mai, 2019, 09:13 | Auteur: Christine Menetries

"George has already written books six and seven, and as far as he's concerned there only are seven books". Nor did [showrunners] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss].

"Martin has refuted these claims on his personal blog, saying ". for the record - no, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring are not finished. It boggles me that anyone would believe this story, even for an instant.

There's been no confirmation from HBO, Benioff, Weiss, or Martin so this could be a case of McElhinney simply regurgitating a rumor or a bad game of telephone, but he seems to be speaking from a place of knowledge here so... He claimed that Martin has already finished the final two books but struck an agreement with HBO not to publish them until after the show has ended, reports Collider.

The actor also reportedly said that the author has made a deal with Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss to put the books on hold.

" There is no "deal" to hold back on the books", Martin said.

Martin did not name McElhinney in the blog post, but went on to say: "Why would I sit for years on completed novels?"

That's a definitive dismantling of what was an alarmingly bold claim from McElhinney.

Original story: Game of Thrones will wrap up in less than a week's time, as Episode 6-the series finale-premieres this Sunday, May 19.

It turns out you don't need hackers to spoil the next episode of Game of Thrones - HBO Spain is here for your needs!

Matt Purslow is IGN's UK News and Entertainment Writer. "Why would my publishers - not just here in the United States, but all around the world - ever consent to this?" he continued.

He wrote: "All of a sudden this insane story about my finishing THE WINDS OF WINTER and A DREAM OF SPRING years ago is popping up everywhere". It makes not a whit of sense. He added that HBO and the "Game of Thrones" producers would have been "thrilled" about the release of a new book in his series, and no one would have been "more delighted" than the author himself. "But if it will calm down all the Potterites out there, let me say that Gandalf could kick Melisandre's ass, too".

This is a pretty well-worn conspiracy theory that pops every once in a while among A Song of Ice and Fire fans.

Unfortunately, notorious lazy-bones George RR Martin has still refused to name a date for when the much delayed sixth novel in the A Song of Ice and Fire series (on which the HBO show is based) will be released. But once it became clear around Season 5 that the show was surpassing the narrative of the books, Martin provided the showrunners with the broad strokes of his intended ending (which is hopefully handled with more care than last night's episode, "The Bells"). After all, a lot of characters who have died on the show still live in the books, not the least of whom is Barristan Selmy.

"Game of Thrones" ends its run this season. Martin recently said three of the five in development are "still moving forward nicely". The episode will be 80 minutes long and will be the last one of the series.
