Saturday's UFC 237 card in Rio de Janeiro did not go well for the country of Brazil - until the championship main event. Namajunas walked back to the fighter hotel and has since stated the matter caused her mental pain. Silva tried to save himself but referee Herb Dean rushed in quickly and wave off the bout. This marks the first time a women's strawweight contest has headlined a UFC pay-per-view event.

Andrade comes into this fight looking for a win.

"I was certain of what I had to do in the second round", Andrade said. "I never threw that move, I never piledrived anyone in the UFC". That's what I do. I got anxious because we train to go in there and fight and everyone comes out okay. "We'll take it one day at a time". (But) I don't know. We'll see. I'm not gonna make no decisions right now. "It's just hard to keep having fun with this".

Namajunas, of Denver, fought beautifully early on.

Namajunas had made a curious decision earlier in the year to pass up a chance to defend her title in March against Andrade in Las Vegas.

In Round 2, Andrade continued with her relentless pressure and began to catch Namajunas in comprising situations as she backed up in straight lines with her hands down.

Andrade is known for her power and physical wrestling, and it showed in the finish. Eventually she got close enough for a third slam attempt that saw Namajunas' commitment to try and hook a kimura leave her neck exposed to the slam.

Andrade is now 7-1 since dropping to the strawweight division in 2013.

If there is one thing that Andrade couldn't believe about the bout, it was that she used a pile driver against the former champion.

Namajunas had a three-fight win streak snapped as she suffered her second career knockout loss.

Asked about the possibility of an immediate rematch with Andrade, Namajunas again spoke in uncertain terms about her future. "I knew she was slowing down". "There's no doubt about that", she said.
