Kendrick Castillo, who was killed during a shooting at the STEM School Highlands Ranch. He is continuing to be held without bond as of 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.

During a hearing for Erickson, Douglas County District Attorney George Brauchler said that the investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and requested, at the behest of investigators, that arrest affidavits and a probable cause statement in the case be suppressed from public view for two weeks.

Castillo's parents also attended the hearing.

Unlike his initial court appearance, 18-year-old Devon Michael Erickson appeared more involved in Wednesday's proceedings. His attorneys' requested that he be unshackled during the hearing was denied. McKinney's attorney, Ara Ohanian, said he would seek to move McKinney's case back to juvenile court. Brauchler said that discovery evidence prosecutors now have in their possession would be turned over to Erickson's lawyers later Wednesday.

Castillo was the only fatal victim in the incident, while eight other students were hospitalized.

Prosecutors have said they will decide whether to charge 16-year-old Alec McKinney as an adult alongside 18-year-old Devon Erickson.

Castillo along with classmates Brendan Bialy and Joshua Jones are credited with helping minimize the bloodshed by charging at one of the suspects in a classroom.
