Bundesliga oppose European Super League: The domestic leagues can't suffer

Europe's domestic leagues have rejected current proposals for a near-closed Champions League, saying it would benefit only a few "rich and dominant clubs".
Plans for a major revamp of the tournament are being considered by the European Club Association (ECA), including the possibility of increasing the number of group stage games.
The statement comes after a board meeting in Warsaw, with European Leagues criticising the proposals from the European Clubs Association.
The French Football League (LFP) and the German Football League (DFL) have signalled their opposition to proposed Champions League changes.
The French league said clubs unanimously agreed to present an alternative option to UEFA, which has said talks about which changes to make will take about a year.
The ECA wants 24 of 32 Champions League teams to automatically retain their places based on a high placing in expanded eight-team groups, starting from the 2024-25 season.
"The now discussed concept of the European Club Association would have unacceptable consequences for the national leagues in Europe and should therefore not be implemented in this form", said DFL CEO Christian Seifert.
"We must not allow the traditional national leagues to become less attractive for millions of people across the continent", he said.
