Massimiliano Allegri will leave Juventus at the end of the 2018/19 season after five years at the Serie A club.

The addition of the five-times European champion, whose pre-eminence in the competition added to Juventus' vastly experienced squad was meant to tip the balance towards Turin this season, gave Allegri the chance to finally claim the one major club honour to elude him but defeat at the hands of Ajax ended Juve's hopes.

Allegri arrived in 2014 after four years at Milan and led Juve to five consecutive Serie A titles, securing the league and cup double in his first four seasons.

The Italian has won Serie A in each of his five seasons in Turin.

Allegri guided Juve to two European finals losing to Barcelona in 2015 before being hammered by Real Madrid two years later.

Juventus was eliminated by Ajax in the quarterfinals of this season's Champions League.

Chelsea will however be able to sign both striker Gonzalo Higuain and midfielder Mateo Kovacic, on loan from Juventus and Real Madrid respectively.

Allegri and club president Andrea Agnelli are set to speak at a news conference on Saturday.

Speaking on Friday, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola once again rubbished rumours that he could head to Turin.

"I'm not going to move". I am going to stay, if they want, two more seasons here. I'm not going to move. I am satisfied working with this club, with the people here.

Although Klopp hasn't managed to win a trophy so far on Merseyside, the German has taken Liverpool to successive Champions League finals and fell agonisingly short of winning the Premier League title this season, finishing on 97 points, just one behind Manchester City.
