Prosecutors: Flynn Told Mueller About Efforts to Obstruct Probe

  • Michael Flynn told Robert Mueller's team Trump administration and Congressional officials tried to influence his cooperation with Russia probe

In a separate court filing, Judge Emmet Sullivan ordered prosecutors to turn over redacted portions of Mr. Mueller's report, which would make them public.

The communications could have "affected both his willingness to cooperate and the completeness of that cooperation", special counsel Robert Mueller wrote in the court filings. However, Mueller, in both the Flynn court filing and his final report, did not go into detail on that possibility. "And you would have thought it would have, and they would have maybe focused on that, but it didn't come up at all", said Flynn's brother. He has pled guilty to those lies.

Mueller's office had previously told the court that Flynn should receive little to no jail time, because he provided investigators with "substantial assistance" in the special counsel's investigation into Russian election interference.

While it wasn't until after Flynn had already been hired, Trump was also warned by two different officials - whom he later fired - in early January that Flynn was under investigation.

"That sequence of events could have had the potential to affect Flynn's decision to cooperate, as well as the extent of that cooperation. [R] emember what we've always said about the president and his feelings toward Flynn and, that still remains".

Former national security adviser Michael Flynn told investigators that people linked to the Trump administration and Congress reached out to him in an effort to interfere in the Russian Federation probe, according to newly-unredacted court papers filed Thursday.

Flynn served as Trump's national security adviser until he was sacked in February 2017.

Riri, as fondly called by fans, has a different opinion on the bill's relevance to the right of women in the state. Earlier this week, Alabama passed a bill that would ban all forms of abortion unless a women's life was at risk.

A description of another topic of Flynn's cooperation is still blacked out in the court record.

Flynn pleaded guilty in December of 2017 to a charge of lying to federal investigators about his transition-period discussions with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak. Flynn has not yet been sentenced, partly because the lobbying case in Virginia is still ongoing, and he may testify at that trial. The special counsel declined to make a judgment on whether Trump obstructed justice, although he identified ten episodes of possible obstruction by the president in his 448-page report. But Mueller declined to decide whether the President should be charged with a crime. During her first in-person meeting with White House counsel Don McGahn, Yates told Trump's top legal adviser that Flynn was under investigation.

CBS News' Reid said the transcripts of any calls between Flynn and Russian officials will be made public by May 31.

No other details were provided in the documents, which were filed in December as a redacted portion of Flynn's sentencing memorandum. "For example, the defendant recalled conversations with senior campaign officials after the release of the Podesta emails, during which the prospect of reaching out to WikiLeaks was discussed", according to the newly unredacted documents.

'It now seems the General Flynn was under investigation long before was common knowledge, ' Trump tweeted Friday morning. The conversation took place in November 2016, Obama speaking with Trump less than 48 hours after the election.

Trump was anxious - and it turns out, rightly - that Flynn knew things that would be problematic for the President as it related to Russian Federation.
