NASA plans to land the first woman on the moon by 2024

  • How humans caused the moon to warm

For starters, there will be a seat on the 2024 lunar mission specially reserved for a woman, the first to ever walk on the Moon.

In contrast to our planet, the Moon doesn't have structural plates; rather, its structural movement happens as it gradually loses heat from when it was framed 4.5 billion years back. NASA's Apollo 11 mission succeeded in landing the first humans on the moon on July 20, 1969.

Bridenstine noted that Vice President Mike Pence is now challenging the US space agency to expedite its Moon initiatives and put astronauts back on the lunar surface in the next five years.

'I have an 11-year-old daughter and I want her to be able to see herself in the same way that our current very diverse astronaut corps sees itself, ' Bridenstine said during the summit. This summer marks the 50th anniversary of the first manned moon landing.

Using the revised location estimates from their new algorithm, Dr. Schmerr and colleagues found that the epicenters of eight of the 28 shallow quakes were within 19 miles of faults visible in the LRO images.

Trump announced Monday that he is adding $1.6 billion to NASA's budget "so that we can return to Space in a BIG WAY!" "The president has given us the mission directive to return to the moon, and we're going to do that in short order".

So does this mean that the moon is unsafe for human exploration?

Mr Bridenstine tweeted: "Our #Moon2024 mission is being named after Artemis, who was a sister to Apollo and goddess of the Moon".

Yes, it was a mistake", he said as he apologised to his family, friends and supporters, appearing at times close to tears. The FPOe has mounted repeated attacks on the ORF's coverage, accusing it of being biased against the party.

The amendment is a proposal for now, however; NASA won't get the money until Congress, which has the power of the purse, officially signs off.

Bridenstine said he's already heard criticism of how the new spending will be "dead on arrival" in Congress because neither NASA nor the administration worked in advance with Congress on it. "There are many clues that we're actually looking at a man-made crater instead of a metreoid-caused one", the space agency said.

In March, Vice President Mike Pence urged NASA to accelerate its moon-landing program, moving it up from 2028 to 2024. That's a tight squeeze considering the amount of things NASA still has to get done.

Trump announced the plan on Twitter, writing, "Under my Administration, we are restoring @NASA to greatness and we are going back to the Moon, then Mars".

Bridenstine said he was optimistic that Trump's request would draw bipartisan support on Capitol Hill.

'The moon is the proving ground; Mars is the horizon goal'.
