Country star Travis Tritt's tour bus was involved in a fatal vehicle wreck as it was leaving Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, early Saturday morning, the musician said on Twitter. South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Tritt wrote that his bus was sideswiped by a wrong-way driver.
Tritt had a concert at the House of Blues Myrtle Beach venue Friday night and a scheduled concert at Anderson Music Hall in Hiawassee, Georgia Saturday night, according to his website. Sonny Collins says a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction crashed into a pickup truck head-on.
"I feel so bad for those who died and their families", Tritt commented on Instagram. "I'm literally shaken by what I witnessed", Tritt writes.
On Twitter, Tritt also spoke out about the fact that the accident was caused by someone driving drunk or otherwise intoxicated.
"I beg everyone to please, please, please drive sober", the singer implores. "God bless those who died". The victims were identified as 61-year-old Tonda Cross of Ellettsville, Indiana, and 25-year-old Charles "Cody" Wade of Horry County.
The singer later said that his tour bus had received minor damage and that he was "so incredibly sad for those who lost their lives tonight". "I'm saddened beyond belief!"
