  • ARM employees have been instructed to suspend business with Huawei: Report

Remember, part of the Huawei ban is that Huaweis Android license from Google is revoked.

Previously, about five people a day were looking to trade in their Huawei phones, but that has jumped to 20 in the last two days, said Zack, a salesman at Mobile Square in Singapore who declined to give his last name. Aptoide now has more than 900,000 apps with nearly 200 million users. If ARM is now refusing to do any business with Huawei, that could potentially revoke Huawei's access to the architecture underlying all of its SoCs.

According to sources speaking with Bloomberg, chip makers ranging from Intel, Qualcomm, Broadcom, Xilinx and others will be freezing their supply to Huawei.

Huawei's placement on the USA government's trade blacklist will likely require the Chinese tech giant to rethink the way it develops key products across its smartphone, laptop, and wearable lines. Mobile service would not sell the newly-released Huawei P30 Lite smartphone because it wants "customers to feel safe using our products", said SoftBank spokesman Hiroyuki Mizukami.

This move apparently means that Microsoft has bowed to USA pressure on tech giants to stop doing business with the Chinese company.

British chip designer ARM halted relations with Huawei [HWT.L] to comply with a USA blockade of the company, potentially crippling the Chinese telecom company's ability to make new chips for its future smartphones. SoftBank-owned semiconductor firm Arm said on Wednesday that it was suspending business with Huawei.

ARM licenses crucial semiconductor designs that form the basis of Huawei's Kirin line of processors which run nearly all of Huawei's and its sub-brand Honor's smartphones.

Huawei still has to comment on the news.

Arm China must too follow the enforcement of the ban, even though as per Chinese law it is 51 per cent Chinese investor owned (with a 49 per cent stake held by Arm Holdings). The company was established previous year between ARM and a Chinese investment group to help ARM develop and offer products and support in China. Another victim of the ban is likely to be the planned new Huawei research centre, only 15 minutes from Arm's headquarters in Cambridge.

Carousell, Singapore's most popular online marketplace, said the number of Huawei phone sales more than doubled the day the U.S. order was announced.

Huawei has reportedly stockpiled enough components to keep it going for somewhere between three months to a year.
