Sky News crew targeted in shelling attack in Syria

  • UK journalists have reportedly been shelled by Syrian forces

The five-strong group rushed through clouds of dust towards their vehicle, and say they were tracked by a military drone.

Martin Vowles, a Sky producer, can be heard screaming at Crawford in panic.

Alex Crawford, Sky News' special correspondent, said her team was present in a supposed demilitarised buffer zone between rebels and the army but that they were fired upon.

"As we retreated to leave the area, the targeting of us continued", said the journalist, who was reporting in the jihadist-dominated northwestern province of Idlib.

Crawford added that one of the crew members was wearing a flak jacket that said "Press" on the front and back.

One of the activists, Bilal Abdul Kareem, who is from NY but moved to Syria three years ago, was injured by shrapnel during the attack and footage showed blood from the wound soaking through his white t-shirt.

According to Crawford, the attack was a violation of worldwide standards.

Salman Khan says he wants kids but not their mother
But Salman didn't stop here as he said that since Priyanka loved the script so much, she can at least promote the film. Talking about her character, Katrina said, "I think Kumud is the best character I've had the chance to play".

We had suddenly become the new targets.

"The intentional targeting of journalists is also a breach of global standards".

"Just 15 minutes after we left, another shell hit the town of Khan Shaykhun and it has been under bombardment ever since", Ms Crawford said.

The Syrian government has repeatedly been accused by rights groups of targeting local and foreign journalists during the country's ongoing civil war.

Testifying before a congressional committee on the following day, United States special representative for Syria James Jeffrey said there was no evidence that chemical weapons had been used in the offensive against rebel-held territory in northwest Syria that began in early May but raised the prospect that such attacks could be carried out to compensate for the poor performance of Assad's ground forces.

Idlib, a city in northwest Syria, is supposedly covered by a de-escalation deal agreed by Russian Federation and Turkey last autumn but has been broken this year as rebel forces at the regime clash over territory.
