Swamp Thing trailer ups the horrors in the swamp

"There's all kinds of terrible that happens in this swamp", Sheriff Lucilia Cable insists in the latest trailer for Swamp Thing - and it seems she just uttered the understatement of the year.

Swamp Thing will premiere on DC Universe on May 31. Crystal Reed plays CDC investigator Abby Arcane who is called back to her Louisiana hometown to investigate a mysterious contagion that has affected the whole community.

A few of those secrets (including the titular monster, played by Power's Andy Bean) can be glimpsed in the trailer above, prompting Abby to realize she's "dealing with something beyond the known scope of science".

"It's in the superhero universe, but he's not necessarily a superhero", executive producer Len Wiseman recently said at a special screening of the first two episodes in Los Angeles.

So while it may not do much for the Swamp Thing character, it appears that if you're itching for a horror show on DC Universe, Swamp Thing will get the job done.
