Flight attendant thrown into roof during terrifying turbulence

The 30-second video showed the drinks from the flight attendant's cart spill all over passengers and a lady appear to pray as the plane violently shakes.

An air steward and her drink cart were sent crashing into into the ceiling of a plane when severe turbulence rocked the aircraft during a flight over Europe at the weekend.

Passenger Mirjeta Basha, who shot the terrifying cellphone video while traveling from the city of Pristina to Basel with her husband on June 16, told German newspaper Badische Zeitung she was convinced the plane was going to crash.

"People started screaming and crying".

USA carriers are generally required to have flight attendants sit if they believe turbulence is ahead, but ALK Airlines says the flight attendant from the video is still in "absolutely good health".

A food cart can also be seen soaring into the air in the video, its contents, including scalding hot tea and coffee, raining back down on the passengers. One of the soaked travelers can also be seen praying immediately after the cart comes crashing down.

Vivienne Gaskell, a spokeswoman for the EuroAirport, confirmed to Fox News that 10 people were taken to several hospitals in nearby Basel, Switzerland with minor injuries.

The plane, which was carrying 121 passengers, was met by ambulances upon landing.

According to EuroAirport, some passengers reported being burned by scolding water from the drink tray.

Flight operator ALK said the seatbelt sign had been switched on at the time of the turbulence.

They said the attendant was in the process of collecting drinks from passengers when the incident occurred.

ABC News noted that US airlines dictate that all flight attendants must sit down if the pilots believe they are about to encounter turbulence.
