Republican Sen. Tom Cotton weighs in on what's next.

This comes after President Trump decided against a possible American strike after Iran shot down an unmanned us drone, believing that the 150 expected casualties from a countermeasure were not "proportionate" to the loss of an unmanned aircraft.

As things stand we can be certain of one thing; Donald Trump may start a war with Iran with reckless abandon if his moods dictate it, there seems to be no coherent and considered plan leading from the top. And I think they want to make a deal.

Reuters reported on June 21 that US President Trump said on the same day that he had prevented a military strike against Iran, because it was disproportionate to respond to Tehran's shooting down of the US unmanned reconnaissance plane.

Yitong also quoted Mohsin Bahalwand, Director of the Americas Department of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as saying: "If the other party takes provocative and unthought-out actions, they will receive corresponding responses". "I fear that if Iran doesn't have a firm set of boundaries drawn around its behavior, we're going to see an attack on a USA ship or USA manned aircraft". After the second attack on tankers on June 13, Trump noted that neither tanker was a USA vessel and suggested that a red line for the United States would be targeting US interests (military or commercial). Cotton distinguished the two situations.

Cooler heads need to prevail in Washington; their president pulled out of the JCPOA, their president has reinstated sanctions, and their president has been caught flying drones over Iranian airspace.

Gen. Jack Keane discusses why President Trump called off the mission to strike back against Iran.

"Something's tainted there", Smith said of Trump's model of events. I don't think they like the position they're in.

"Just like an attack on an American ship or any harm to American servicemembers or citizens in the region, the president has also been very clear he will not allow Iran to approach [creating] a nuclear weapon".
