  • Yuvraj Singh lashes out at team management after India’s World Cup exit

If someone was failing at No. 4, the team management should have told that player that he was going to play the World Cup.

With the never-ending debate over the No. 4 spot, former India player Yuvraj Singh isn't convinced with the way the team management treated the crucial batting spot.

It was called a game-changing moment of brilliance but New Zealand star Martin Guptill says his direct-hit run-out of the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni in the World Cup semifinal was more a case of luck doing its bit for him. But fans are already speculating his retirement for India's loss against New Zealand in World Cup semi-final.

The cricketer, who was Man of the Tournament in the 2011 World Cup, also expressed his concern over Ambati Rayudu not getting his due.

"There is no need to change anything except re-look at Dhoni's batting position come the next ODI series", the World T20 and ODI World Cup victor mentioned in his column.

I'd rather lose playing that way than lose playing conservatively and not really giving myself a chance. So it deserves to stand-alone and not just be this tournament that's attached on to the week after.

"It was disappointing to watch what they did with Rayudu. He got runs in New Zealand but after three or four bad innings, he got dropped", Yuvraj said.

Waugh also backed England to win the World Cup after their eight-wicket win over Australia in the semi, saying he believed it was their "time" to lift the trophy.

Defending what looked like a below-par total of 239 runs, Kiwi pacers reduced India to 5/3 and then 24/4 before Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya started a fightback that took a match-winning shape under Ravindra Jadeja (77) and MS Dhoni (50) in a sixth-wicket stand of 116. If Rohit and Virat would get out early, we could get into trouble and everyone knew about that.

"We needed his experience later. I didn't understand the idea behind their plans", Yuvraj added. It followed Rayudu's unexpected decision to retire from the game. It is unfortunate how they dealt with the whole situation.
