"We're excited and thankful to have our partners supporting the launch of AMD EPYC 7002 Series Processors", said Scott Aylor, corporate vice president and general manager, Datacenter Solutions Group, AMD.

Apart from having "only" 32 billion transistors and as many as 64 cores, AMD said its 2nd Gen Epyc processors - largely thought to be a product that will allow the company to grab some serious data centers market share from Intel - deliver twice the price performance of Intel's fastest available chips.

7002 series is classified as a second generation EPYC processor due to the fact that it is based on AMD's new design (architecture).

Liverpool débute fort contre Norwich — Premier League
Après une lourde défaite (1-4) face à Atalanta, a terminé sa pré-saison avec une courte victoire (1-0) face à Toulouse. Face à Norwich, le joueur de 27 ans pourrait rentrer dans l'histoire de la Premier League .

Google has used other AMD chips before, including in its "Millionth Server", built in 2008, and says it is now the first company to use second-generation EPYC chips in its datacenters.

Google also said it deployed the upgraded EPYC processors internally, and will add them to its cloud by 2020. "Its scalable compute, memory and I/O performance will expand our ability to drive innovation forward in our infrastructure and will give Google Cloud customers the flexibility to choose the best VM for their workloads". Also, Twitter has announced that the new EPYC chips will help it reduce power consumption, and the company plans to reduce costs associated with data center infrastructure by 25%. Alternatively, Intel manufactures chips in its own factories and uses a new manufacturing process, which may be responsible for being behind the schedule in delivering their new Ice Lake chips. Customers can enjoy all-new "Zen 2" CPU architecture with up to 64 cores from their current AMD EPYC™ processor-based platforms. The new server series is based on the 7nm Zen 2 core technology offering 15 percent IPC increase over its predecessor. GIGABYTE's BMC management solution is also notable in providing HTML5-based iKVM remote management client as a standard feature, with no additional add-on license required to purchase.

"Transport SX TS65-B8036: "2U single-socket AMD EPYC™ 7002 Series Processor-based storage platform with support for up to 16 DDR4-3200 DIMM slots, 6 PCIe x8 slots, 2 NVMe M.3 ports for boot drives, 12 front-access 3.5" and 2 rear-access 2.5" hot-swap tool-less drive trays. It competes with Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) which has been a dominant force in the data center space and in the PC processor market for many years to supply chips that act as the main computing brains for PCs, servers, gaming and artificial intelligence. "Through close collaboration with AMD, we are addressing the demands of traditional, virtualized, hybrid and multi-cloud workloads with a broad portfolio of PowerEdge servers, including newly designed servers optimized for 2nd Generation AMD EPYC processors". This time around the resurgent AMD, rather fresh from its successful Ryzen 3000 launch, was backed by some of the biggest names in tech - with enthusiastic prestigious customers trotted out on stage throughout the launch event. Also available for system builders is GIGABYTE's MZ32-AR0 motherboard which forms the base of the R152 and R272 server series.
