The RCMP says its review will be completed over the next few weeks and families will be updated before the information is released to the public.
The teenagers became suspects and the manhunt ended last week when the RCMP found McLeod and Schmegelsky dead in the Gillam scrub.
"The examination of the area where (their bodies) were located.is still being dealt with and searched".
Investigators, for instance, still are trying to determine a motive - and that will be hard, Hackett said.
When reached via Facebook messenger on Sunday and asked about his response to Deese's post, Schmegelsky said she could go on "60 Minutes" and that he could arrange it.
Their bodies were found on Alaska Highway, south of Liard Hot Springs, B.C., on July 15.

Police scoured more than 11,000 square kilometres in northern Manitoba - an area about twice the size of P.E.I. "There is significant evidence that links both crime scenes together".
The tragedy began with young couple Lucas Fowler and Chynna Deese shot dead on a lonely Canadian highway.

Police say the officers initiated some sort of stop with the suspect before the suspect and an officer exchanged gunfire. The officer returned fire, and was joined by two other Highway Patrol officers who responded as backup.

Police said last week the Dyck and Deese-Fowler homicides were related. At the time, authorities did not have them as murder suspects. The constables see camping gear and maps in their vehicle.
Last week, police closing in on the pair had found items linked to the suspects on the shores of the Nelson River.
The men were dead for "a number of days" before they were discovered. Fox Lake Cree Nation says a burned-out vehicle is found near Gillam, Man., about 170 kilometres east of Split Lake.
Authorities have now completed their search of the area.
That led to the discovery of several items police were able to "directly link" to Schmegelsky and McLeod on the riverbank - just eight km from where they ditched their getaway vehicle. A burnt-out auto belonging to one of their alleged victims, Leonard Dyck, was found near Gillam on 23 July. He was a lecturer in the University of British Columbia's botany department.
Sgt Manaigre, who took part in the manhunt, said a group of officers from RCMP Manitoba will remain in Gillam indefinitely looking for clues to assist homicide investigators in British Columbia. Schmegelsky allegedly sent photographs of a swastika armband and a Hitler Youth knife to an online friend on the video-game network Steam. Schmegelsky is also pictured in military fatigues brandishing an airsoft rifle and wearing a gas mask. The RCMP announced they would scale back the search for Schmegelsky and McLeod in Northern Manitoba on July 31.
More details could be released as soon as Monday by RCMP in B.C., Manaigre said, adding it will ultimately be up to Mounties in that province to release any information.
Manitoba RCMP first mentioned the boat on August 4, 2019.
The first was the discovery of a damaged aluminium boat, spotted during an aerial search, near the shoreline of the Nelson River. Police later revealed that they had found items connected to them.
It's understood two firearms were found alongside the bodies.
