El-Zakzaky, wife arrive Abuja airport for medical trip to India

THE leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and his wife on Monday, were flown to India for medical treatment.

A Kaduna High Court had, last week, ruled that the IMN leader and his wife be allowed to seek medical treatment in India.

This move became necessary after a High Court sitting in Kaduna granted the IMN leader and his wife bail based on health issues.

Already, El-Zakzaky and his wife, Zeenat, have arrived at the airport in preparation for their flight to Medenta Hospital, New Delhi, India for medical treatment.

The court had ordered that they should be released by the Department of State Services to go for treatment and return for the continuation of their trial after their discharge from the hospital. The trip came on a day about 186 doctors from Pakistan, India, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq wrote a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari pointing on Sheikh El-Zakzaky's physical conditions, asking the Federal Government to transfer him to a well-equipped hospital as soon as possible.
