  • The Jeremy Kyle Show axed by ITV in May

At one hearing, the committee's chairman Damian Collins MP labelled The Jeremy Kyle Show's makers "irresponsible" for putting guests through lie detector tests without knowing how accurate those tests were.

Jeremy Kyle is piloting a new show to air on ITV, the broadcaster's director of television has told Sky News.

The Mirror reports that at 6am there will be 30 minutes of news before Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan take over.

The proposal adds: "With the feel of a continuous live broadcast featuring favourite and familiar faces, the shows would have more interaction between the end of each show and a smoother handover between presenters into the next show".

Referring to the schedule, he said: "I have spoken to him about it, of course, and I think he feels as well that whatever he does next, it shouldn't be in that 9.30AM slot".

However, Kevin admitted it's unlikely Jeremy will back on screens in same time slot as his eponymous-titled show was at 9.30am. "We will look to find another show with him but I think it is unlikely it will go in the same slot".

The 54-year-old presenter - who is best known for fronting "The Jeremy Kyle Show" on the channel - had his show scrapped in May after participant Steve Dymond, who failed a lie detector test, died in a suspected suicide.

ITV initially suspended filming but ended The Jeremy Kyle Show after coming under pressure from politicians and the public.

In June, those with links to the show were asked to give evidence to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Committee, although Kyle did not attend.

Mr Lygo claimed ITV had no part in Kyle's decision which was "totally his" and they stayed "deliberately neutral". Obviously he had a dilemma about should he, shouldn't he.

He said: 'I'm glad I didn't.' It would have all been on him.

It follows the controversy surrounding not just The Jeremy Kyle Show but also ITV2 series Love Island, after the suicides of two former contestants, Mike Thalassitis and Sophie Gradon. "The very bad tragedies of people dying".

A copy of it reads: "An earlier helping of Phil and Holly every day with a new show opener at 10am featuring amusing viewers' letters and emails with the hilarious and peculiar things they have sent in".

There is not a "direct connection or enough significance" to cancel Love Island because someone who was on it "has gone through a tragic experience", according to the director.

He added: 'All we know about suicide is that it is a very complex issue and there is not one trigger that does it'. The procedures and the screenings and the rest of it and the aftercare on Love Island are very hard.
