Huawei is willing to flog its 5G tech to a Western buyer

  • Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei

That would definitively be a surprising move from the 5G leading company.

According to Ren, such a move would help level the playing field at a time when many in the West are wary at the prospect of a Chinese company supplying the gear for their 5G networks; the Australian gov, for example, has banned Huawei from providing equipment for its 5G infrastructure.

The buyer could tweak the source code. First, it's unclear if the Chinese government would agree to Huawei essentially selling off a portion of its most valuable assets to a foreign company. "A balanced distribution of interests is conducive to Huawei's survival", he said in reference to undoing the anti-Chinese technology sentiment that's arisen in the past few years.

Huawei will likewise be free to develop its technology in whichever direction it pleases. The telecom giant aims to create a 5G rival that could compete with it (Huawei would keep its existing contracts and continue to sell its own 5G kit), the firm's CEO explained. But these are exceptional times for Huawei and it's having to consider ever more novel ways of adapting to a time in which many countries around the world are blocking its presence in their 5G networks.

Sixth Person In United States Dies From Vaping-Related Illness
For example, nicotine , which can be present in high concentrations in e-cigarettes, is linked to brain development issues. The department urges people who have trouble breathing after using vaping products to seek medical attention immediately.

Ren, who's been on a charm offensive for much of 2019, denied the spying allegations, but the United States actively discouraged its European allies not to use Huawei in their 5G networks.

"5G represents speed", Ren added.

It'll be interesting to see how this pans out and because of ego, it is highly unlikely that Ericsson and Nokia would be interested in this offer.

When asked if this is a sign of desperation as pressure mounts on its consumer business front. It also feels like a bit of a public relations gimmick, so Ren can say he's trying everything to resolve the current situation and the U.S. needs to meet him half way. He believes that through the sale of their 5G tech, it could drive them to make even better and newer tech. It is through their low prices and faster shipping of products and their willingness to serve places Western firms are afraid of venturing into that make Huawei stand tall.
