  • Cheney Paul duke out foreign policy split in Trump's GOP

Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Liz Cheney are engaged in a tense war of words over the U.S. presence in Afghanistan, with Paul, a Kentucky Republican, accusing Cheney of wanting to engage in "endless wars" and the Wyoming Republican calling Paul a "big loser" for his failed 2016 presidential campaign.

Paul doubled-down on his attack in an interview with CNN on Thursday, claiming that Liz Cheney and her father former Vice President Dick Cheney "hate President Trump's foreign policy". "They want to stay in Afghanistan forever".

The Paul-Cheney dispute comes on the heels of John Bolton's ouster from the Trump administration, which delighted Paul due to his opposition to the hawkishness of the now former national security adviser.

"They're apologizing for John Bolton". On September 11, Paul shared an op-ed from two Wyoming state legislators who criticized Cheney for repeatedly pushing Trump toward an aggressive approach to foreign policy. No surprise since your motto seems to be 'Terrorists First, America Second, ' " Cheney tweeted, referencing Paul's 2016 presidential bid. "Really they're part of this foreign policy swamp that has been trying to undermine President Trump", he said. I don't see you on stage here, @RandPaul.

Un rapprochement est aussi envisagé avec les pompiers, qui organiseront leur propre manifestation nationale le 15 octobre. Les représentants syndicaux se disent dans l'ensemble déçus, et soulignent le flou des mesures.

Cheney snapped back that she stands with Trump and USA troops in not surrendering to terrorists, "unlike [Paul], who seems to have forgotten that today is 9/11". "Oh, right. My bad - you had already lost".

President Trump has not weighed in on the spat just yet, preferring to throw his supporters a curveball by saying that Bolton was "holding [him] back" on Venezuela and Cuba.

"So the main aspects of President Trump's "America First" policy", Paul concluded, "the Cheneys are dead-set against it".
