Nike CEO Mark Parker steps down

"John Donahoe has been an exceptional leader for ServiceNow, championing a purpose-driven culture, strong customer focus and product innovation, and achieving outstanding shareholder value", lead independent director of ServiceNow's board of directors Jeff Miller said.

Bill McDermott, who served as CEO of SAP from 2014 until recently, will join ServiceNow by year-end 2019 as President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors, ServiceNow said in a statement.

Nike also came under fire for featuring an ad with former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, who sparked a national controversy by kneeling during the national anthem.

"This is an exciting time for Nike where we see brand strength and momentum throughout the world and great opportunity for future growth", said Parker. "I am delighted John will join our team".

Donahoe has led cloud computing giant ServiceNow since 2017 and was eBay's CEO from 2008 to 2015.

Donahoe brings a wealth of tech industry experience to Nike, which is morphing into a tech company in many ways, investing in recent initiatives such as its "Consumer Direct Offense" strategy and its Nike App.

The outgoing Nike CEO denied wrongdoing in a memo to employees obtained by FOX Business.

Nike shares were flat in trading on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Nike rival Under Armour Inc UAA.N said its founder and CEO Kevin Plank would step down, giving his responsibilities to Patrik Frisk, a company insider, hoping a change in leadership will help battle brutal competition from Nike and Adidas in the United States.
