  • Kyle Lowry’s pending return broadens options possibilities for Raptors

The Justise Winslow, Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson, Bam Adebayo unit is one I would love to see more.

Norman Powell had 23 points including two huge three-pointers late in regulation for the Raptors (15-5), who'd won a franchise-best nine games at home before Tuesday, but coughed up the win when they shot 0 for 9 in overtime.

Fred VanVleet had 19 points, Pascal Siakiam had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Lowry finished with 12 points and 11 assists. Marc Gasol chipped in with 14 points, while Serge Ibaka added 13.

Lowry, who'd been sidelined with a fractured left thumb and chose to play just before tipoff, missed his first 11 shots Tuesday - including one from the logo to end the first half - and shot 2 for 18 on the night. The five-time All-Star missed his first 11 shot attempts, including seven from 3-point range, before making a layup with 8 minutes, 40 seconds to go in the fourth.

Lowry, however, isn't anxious about his performance.

Although the first game was one that saw the Heat get a win in Brooklyn on Sunday, which did give the Heat a day off for rest, the imminent second half of a Tuesday/Wednesday back to back will take place on Wednesday in Boston. "It's nothing to be concerned or anxious about".

Lowry's return to the Raptors did not go quite as planned Tuesday.

Forbes added 25 points, Jakob Poeltl had 15 rebounds, five blocks and five assists, and Rudy Gay added 14 points in 23 minutes. The home side then blew a 10-point lead with four minutes of normal time to play to lose after double overtime.

How do Sweden's Pisa school results compare to other countries?
About 6,100 randomly selected Japanese students from 183 public and private schools participated in the test. In math , the USA average score on the PISA (478) was lower than the OECD average score (489).

The game started out with a certain pace to it, a back and forth affair between two teams that appeared to be ready for the moment and this game. Lowry had 12 points and 11 assists in 41 minutes. An Ibaka free throw on Toronto's next possession had the Raptors within three points.

But Miami was putting the brakes on every Toronto drive, and five consecutive points from Canadian Kelly Olynyk had Miami up by eight with 4:51 to go. Lowry calmly sank two free throws, and then Powell's second bomb, with 43 seconds to play, put Toronto up 108-107 - and had the capacity Scotiabank Arena crowd - including former longtime Raptors guard Jose Calderon, and actor Nicholas Braun who plays Greg Hirsch in HBO's hit show "Succession" - on its feet roaring. The Raptors missed four straight shots before Powell finally scored on a pair of free throws.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra had predicted a dogfight between the two teams who are chasing Milwaukee for top spot in the Eastern Conference. He did so with the Heat down one point, but only hit one of the free throws as well. Olynyk suffered a bone bruise in his knee while playing for Canada in August, and missed all of training camp, and said he's only now starting to round into form.

Duncan Robinson also had a big night for the Heat, finishing with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field and 6-of-9 shooting on threes. The visitors took a 32-23 advantage into the second.

Raptors: Toronto swept the season series against Miami last season, just the second time it has done so. Miami headed into the dressing room at halftime up 58-53.

Jimmy Butler delivered a triple-double to beat Toronto, then turned his focus to Miami's next opponent with an unbeaten home record.
