Police are investigating the "very strange" discovery of several hundred dead starlings on a road on Anglesey.

Police have called in experts to figure out why more than 200 starlings all died on one country road near the village of Bodedern in Anglesey, Wales.

"She said she saw hundreds of them flying over and thought it looked fantastic but on her way back around an hour later they were all dead in the road", Edwards said.

Either some rare natural phenomenon has hit or we're about to face the apocalypse (probably the latter), as hundreds of dead birds were spotted falling out of the sky on a Welsh island this week.

"There's easily more than 300 of them".

Dafydd Edwards managed to capture a video of the unusual incident after his partner, Hannah, noticed the birds on her way back from a doctor's appointment yesterday (10 December). I counted 150 last night but I gave up as there's just hundreds of them littered everywhere. I didn't believe her so I went to see for myself.

After Months Of Deadlock, Israel Heads To Third Election In A Year

'There are still some alive in the hedges today but it's all unexplained at the moment'.

"So we have got officers now from the Animal & Plant Health Agency who are going to seize some of these starlings with a view to having them examined, looking for poison for example or looking for any other thing that might have killed these animals".

A spokesman for the RSPB said: "This is obviously very concerning for us and we will await the test results".

To try and shed some light on the situation, the couple contacted the North Wales Rural Crime Team and the Animal and Plant Health Agency.

'It would be inappropriate for us to speculate as to how they have died'.

It was thought loud fireworks could have scared the birds to death, or caused them to crash to the ground.
