Le président français Emmanuel Macron a promis, hier, que tous les documents français concernant l'assassinat de l'ancien président burkinabè Thomas Sankara en 1987 seraient "déclassifiés", à l'issue d'un entretien avec le président brukinabè Roch Marc Christian Kaboré à Ouagadougou.
Thomas Sankara, c'est un capitaine de 33 ans qui fait irruption et bouscule la scène post-coloniale en 1983 à la faveur de coups d'État "progressistes". Mais il bouscule aussi les traditions ancestrales, notamment un respect des "anciens" confinant à l'immobilisme, un bouleversement "à la révolution culturelle" dans ce petit pays sahélien enclavé et toujours parmi les plus pauvres au monde. Sur la suite de l'assassinat de Thomas Sankara, la plupart des archives sont accessibles par tout le monde. Lui et douze de ses compagnons ont été assassinés par un commando dans ses bureaux.
A la question de savoir si elle ne craignait pas une simple annonce qui mettrait du temps à être suivie d'effet, Mariam Sankara a répondu par la négative avant d'ajouter: "le président Macron a fait cette annonce au Burkina, devant toute la population". Son ancien ami de route Blaise Compaoré prend les rênes du pouvoir.
Au cours de sa visite, le président français a aussi évoqué le cas de François Compaoré, le frère de Blaise, arrêté en France fin octobre dans le cadre de l'enquête sur l'assassinat, en 1998, du journaliste Norbert Zongo, et dont le Burkina Faso réclame l'extradition.
Le 15 octobre dernier, lors de la commémoration du 30 anniversaire de la mort de Thomas Sankara, des Organisations de la société civile (OSC) ont organisé une marche-meeting à Ouagadougou.
