WhatsApp now lets users play YouTube videos without leaving chats

WhatsApp's new updates have again proven beneficial with the messenger previously launching live location updates that let users track others in real-time along with an update that let users delete sent messages. This feature on the YouTube Go app is possible with a combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct, similar to the Google's Files Go app (whose beta version was also accidentally released). WhatsApp was extensively working on this idea and investigating ways to make watching YouTube videos within its chat-app. Users who have lower mobile data speeds feel that they can't watch videos as easily because they get stuck at the loading screen.

If a YouTube link has been sent on a conversation, then users can directly view the video through the link on WhatsApp itself, as it will no longer be re-directed to YouTube. Besides, phones that have limited RAM and older processors may not be powerful enough to handle multiple actions at once and will painfully slow down annoying most users to the core.

The new feature, which was spotted by WABetaInfo, means that you can watch the video and continue messaging your friends at the same time. Now, it will open in a pop-up window within WhatsApp, on the lines of the picture-in-picture mode available on devices running the latest Oreo version (8.1) of Android.

YouTube Go exited beta earlier this week, and is now only available in India and Indonesia.
