  • People queue for a copy of controversial Trump book — Fire and Fury

It takes place as a row continues between Mr Trump and the author of a new tell-all book about his presidency. According to Stazkin, Wolff, who has written other best-sellers, likely received an advance in excess of six figures. We're joined now by Chris Buskirk.

'Fire and Fury': A look inside Donald Trump's White House Ivanka Trump the 'first woman president'? He is on the line with us again.

MARTIN: What are your listeners saying? This whole thing is very simple. That's what's really interesting.

Former White House counsel and CNN contributor John Dean tweeted Friday that Richard Nixon "was competent, just dishonest" as opposed to Trump, who Dean says is both.

How legitimate are the damning claims made in Wolff's new chart-topping bestseller, and how much is "fake news" aiming to capitalize on a fascinated, fearful and outraged public? And people are going to try their powerplays. So what's going to happen in Congress when they come back in session?

Trump had once referred fondly to Bannon and Miller as "my two Steves".

Wolff said in a TV interview Friday that he stands by the book, which he claims was based on 200 interviews within the White House inner circle. In a post-inauguration Newsweek piece titled "Why the Media Keeps Losing to Donald Trump", he expanded on his early themes to describe the Trump gang as superior to the press. The Islamic State is pretty much obliterated as a state. But Liz "thought it would be fun", she said.

However, threatening to block publication of the book is "very ill-advised" and makes Trump look "weak", Bennett said.

During a fight over a spending bill last year, President Donald Trump tweeted that the federal government needed "a good shutdown" to force Democrats to cooperate. Which is only important so long as he has those advisors. The excerpts were released after another recent controversial interview Bannon participated in with Vanity Fair that was met with disdain from his former employer.

"It's like reading People magazine at the dentist's office", concluded MaeOutWest. And nobody is bigger than the president - no aid, no adviser, no strategist. And maybe Robert Mueller will return with evidence of high crimes and misdemeanors - if not collusion with the Russian government, then some sort of financial impropriety that preceded the campaign. And there's talk that he may be out of Breitbart altogether.

BUSKIRK: Well, yeah, I don't know what done means.

"Even Wolff acknowledges that conventional reporting isn't his bag. He was supposed to be a communications specialist but he antagonized almost everyone". But is Bannonism really a force in how Trump is now ruling, as opposed to how he won the contest to rule? A year later, the Republicans picked up 13 seats in the House and nine in the Senate.

Trump followed up with a tweet claiming he had given, "Zero acess to White House. for author of phony book". Does Trump think? Does it matter?

"The letter, in the panicky draft assembled by Miller and Hicks, either from Kushner's directions or on instructions directly coming from the president, was an off-the-wall mishmash containing the talking points - Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton investigation; the assertion (from Kushner) that the FBI itself had turned against Comey; and, the president's key obsession, the fact that Comey wouldn't publicly acknowledge that the president wasn't under investigation - that would form the Trump family's case for firing Comey". You cannot talk about your boss from the West Wing in that way. Went to television. And for 10 years was a tremendous success, as you probably have heard.

That Murdoch got suckered by Wolff says volumes about Murdoch's naiveté. Sessions, who actually does know something about the law and the Constitution, did, of course, recuse himself.

BUSKIRK: Yeah. I think the ideas still remain the same.

That Trump quickly responded by seeking a cease-and-desist order to prohibit the book's publication is consistent with the behavioral tendencies mentioned above. All but one of the lawmakers she briefed are Democrats.

MARTIN: Chris Buskirk, conservative talk show host, publisher of the website American Greatness.
