  • Second White House official resigns over domestic abuse claims

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace asked why women who are serving in the White House are not resigning amid the Rob Porter scandal and President Donald Trump's response to the domestic abuse allegations.

"Peoples lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation".

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace wants the women of the White House to rise up, resign, and walk out.

Trump has been less supportive of "due process" in the past. It's obviously a tough time for him.

"It's alarming Rob Porter remained in an influential role" said Democratic Representative Ann McLane Kuster, "even as revelations about his domestic abuse were apparently known among senior Trump staffers".

Trump not only accepted Porter's claim of innocence but praised him for doing "a very good job" and offered his wishes for "a wonderful career" ahead. But the most influential voice in the conversation may be on the other side of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Trump's comments drew immediate condemnation from women's groups and Democrats.

Conway and other aides, including budget director Mick Mulvaney, also said Trump has full confidence in chief of staff John Kelly.

The Washington Post reported that it had been working on a story regarding the allegations made by Corbett prior to Sorensen's resignation. On Friday another aide, speechwriter David Sorensen, resigned after his former wife claimed he was violent and emotionally abusive. He also alleged she attempted to block the driveway to prevent him from driving away after she had punched him in the face repeatedly after a fight, forcing him to pull the car forward over the lawn, and that she ran after the car and injured herself in the process. Sorensen worked for the Council on Environmental Quality, which is part of the Executive Office of the President. "He was one of those D.C. douchebag types always looking for the next job".

He didn't look back in the situation; he didn't even look at the ball. "I'd trade the next 100 goals for that feeling". Now, I close my eyes and I picture myself lifting the Premier League trophy at our new stadium with my mates.

The White House's stumbling response to this week's allegations against Porter again have plunged the West Wing into chaos.

"Forty minutes later he was gone", Kelly said. The chief of staff said Friday that the decision was made before photos of one of Porter's ex-wives with a black eye were published.

Amid a raucous week on Wall Street, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin testifies before the House Financial Services Committee on Tuesday.

Curiel was born in Indiana. The FBI declined to comment.

But no action was taken to remove Porter from the staff, and instead, Kelly and others oversaw an elevation in Porter's standing; for example, he was one of a handful of aides who helped draft last week's State of the Union address. "When I tried to get help, I was counseled to consider carefully how what I said might affect his career".

Both men have denied the accusations. "I have yet to read an article that accounts for the violation of his dignity", writes Andrew Sullivan in New York magazine last week. "It suggests that what we really need to worry about is how these allegations will impact the man who is accused". But trashing the environment, flirting with nuclear conflagration and enabling neo-Nazis could be funny only as fiction.

"That's like saying, 'That ax murderer out there, he's a great painter, ' " Biden told an audience of fraternity and sorority students in Indianapolis. "Gen. Kelly had to be aware of that, given his nature as head of Southern Command during the rise of concern about sexual abuse and abuse in the military".

The thrice-married Trump has denied sexual misconduct and harassment accusations against himself by more than two dozen women, and downplayed his 2006 comments on "Access Hollywood", in which he said he would kiss and grab women without their permission.
