Trump adviser says Trudeau 'stabbed us in the back' at G7 summit

Germany and France on Sunday sharply criticised U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to abruptly withdraw his support for a Group of Seven communique, accusing him of destroying trust and acting inconsistently.

Kudlow accused Canada Sunday of making polarizing comments about the United States' trade policy, and said that Trump had to pull out of the joint scommunique because the Canadian prime minister has "stabbed us in the back".

Morneau said that during the G7, Canadian officials had the opportunity to present Trump and his team some numbers that Morneau described as indicative of how trade works between the two countries. The Trump administration imposed aluminum and steel tariffs on the other G-7 members - the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Canada and Japan - ratcheting up tensions between the US and its allies in the run-up to the summit.

Ironically, it is instead just before Trump meets Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea - a member of former US President George W. Bush's "Axis of Evil" in 2002.

- Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 11, 2018Why should I, as President of the United States, allow countries to continue to make Massive Trade Surpluses, as they have for decades, while our Farmers, Workers & Taxpayers have such a big and unfair price to pay? "The non-factual part of this is - they have enormous tariffs", Kudlow said.

Trudeau said Canada planned to retaliate after the Trump administration announced tariffs last month that will be coming as of July 1. Minimum is 17B. Tax Dairy from us at 270%.

Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., also called Trudeau's comments a stab in the back to Trump.

Shortly after Mr. Trudeau said that he was "happy to announce that we have released a joint communique by all seven countries" indicating that the United States was also included, Mr. Trump announced that Washington would reverse its decision and not sign the statement.

G7 : crise de confiance générale après le retrait de Trump
Le président américain était arrivé le dernier et reparti le premier du cossu Manoir Richelieu, surplombant le fleuve Saint-Laurent.

"PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that. he 'will not be pushed around.' Very dishonest & weak", he added. On Saturday, he called the Canadian prime minister "very dishonest and weak".

It follows a chaotic G7 summit in Quebec at the weekend, when USA president Donald Trump withdrew his endorsement of a joint communique, accusing Mr Trudeau of being "dishonest and weak".

Asked about Trump's tweets and the future of the G7 late Saturday during a photo op in La Malbaie, Trudeau declined to respond to several questions. "All Justin Trudeau had to do was take the win".

Kudlow said, Trump doesn't want "any show of weakness", any publicly-stated attempt to "push him around" beforehand.

"It's actually not a real surprise, we have seen this with the climate agreement or the Iran deal".

The group of seven nations that make up the G7 are Canada, France, the USA, the UK, Germany, Japan and Italy.

"I think she is outlining Canada's actual position and is outlining actual steps that have been taken and are being taken", he told Xinhua in an interview.
