This news comes in the wake of the disappointing launch of Solo, which was only Lucasfilm's second A Star Wars Story spinoff, but which received mixed-positive reviews and fell short of box office expectations.

Star Wars: Episode X, XI and XII may be a long way off, but Lucasfilm is already laying the groundwork. The company is reportedly contemplating the next trilogy to capture the hearts of Star Wars fans, though whether this will continue that generational epic is unknown. Our source tells us that Disney granted Lucasfilm the budget and time to make all the production changes they needed to fix anything broken with Solo, but that they had to make the May 25th release date.
