Optus also announced that it intends to offer Optus Sports for free to all Australians until August 31.
Optus chief executive Allen Lew said the telco was confident it had fixed the problems that have plagued its streaming service so far, but it wanted to provide Australians with choice.
After sharing World Cup coverage with SBS over the past 48 hours due to technical issues, Optus Sport have announced that they'll continue to do so for all remaining group games at the tournament.
The company's reputation has been badly hit by the fallout from the technical failings, with Optus previously putting them down to a level of "unprecedented demand" for their service beyond their expectations, an excuse that has done little to placate angry customers. "Since Monday we have continued to improve our product and Optus have delivered the last six matches of the world Cup without issue".
Having initially permitted SBS to screen an additional four matches to rectify the problem, Optus on Wednesday extended that permission until the end of the group matches on June 29. This has provided the confidence we needed to reassure the Australian public that we have addressed these issues and that our efforts have worked.

Lew said Optus and SBS were yet to make a decision on whether the telco would cover the finals exclusively, following the group stages.

On whether or not the Optus brand would be significantly impacted by the issue, Lew said he and the company hoped Australians would understand that it has listened to them and is making a concerted effort to fix its image.
"This reaffirms that our strategy to deliver quality content to customers is the right one".
Optus is pushing the boundaries of sports broadcasting innovation in Australia and with that comes challenges and risks.
"We appreciate customers have given us another go and invite those to tune in for tonight's games", he said.
There are a number of high-profile matches scheduled for August, such as Arsenal v Manchester City on the opening weekend.
