Essam El Hadary, the oldest player in World Cup history, made a phenomenal penalty save in Egypt's clash with Saudi Arabia on Monday.

The footballer received a wave of criticism after he took part in a press trip with the leader of the Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov at the start of the World Cup.

However, the Egyptian FA have revealed there have been no talks over his retirement after he was announced as a 'honorary citizen of the Chechen Republic' by Kadyrov.

Now, in the wake of the Russian Federation defeat, the Liverpool star has come in for fierce criticism for his association with Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

As noted by BBC Sport, Kadyrov has previously been accused of human rights violations, which he denied in an interview with the BBC recently.

However, suggestions Salah is ready to retire from the global game were dismissed by the Egyptian FA, per BBC Sport.
