Wayne Rooney agrees to deal to join Major League Soccer's DC United

A little under a year after rejoining Everton from Manchester United, Wayne Rooney is set to leave Goodison Park with a year still left on his contract.

A rumoured move to MLS has been on the cards for a number of months and is now imminent. According to the Press Association, Rooney should complete a move to DC United today.

Rooney is expected in Washington this week to finalise terms ahead of making the move, which will see him become the second high profile signing in the league this season.

There will be no transfer fee but it is understood DC United have agreed a compensation package with the Toffees.
