Ticketmaster UK discovered last Saturday malicious software had been embedded in a customer support product hosted by Inbenta Technologies and that some customers' personal or payment information had been accessed by an unknown hacker.

Inbenta was disabled from all Ticketmaster websites after the discovery.

As a result of Ibenta's product running on Ticketmaster worldwide websites - which includes Ticketmaster global, Ticketmaster UK, GETMEIN! and TicketWeb - customers' personal data "may have been accessed by an unknown third party", the ticket-flogger said.

Australians who purchased tickets via Ticketmaster between September 2017 and June this year have been warned about malicious software that targeted a third-party customer support product.

Ticketmaster said the breach mainly affected United Kingdom customers, but that Ticketmaster International customers are also being advised to change their passwords. They are also offering a free 12-month identity monitoring service to anyone who has been impacted by the hack.

"As a precautionary measure, all notified customers will need to reset their passwords when they next log into their accounts".

In a statement the company said it was "working around the clock" in its post mortem investigation and advised its customers to check for unauthorised purchases and to contact their financial institutions if they spot anything untoward.
