Une femme perd ses ongles après une pédicure avec des poissons

L'histoire de cette Américaine est relatée dans le dernier numéro du journal scientifique Jama Dermatology, publié ce mardi 3 juillet. Les poissons auraient mordu le plat des ongles, ce qui aurait entraîné leur chute. Après examen, c'est la pratique d'une fish pedicure qui serait à l'origine de la pathologie.

Une étude scientifique publiée récemment rapporte le cas d'une femme qui a perdu ses ongles d'orteils après avoir subi une pédicure avec des poissons. Il est en effet impossible de désinfecter constamment le bassin où se trouvent les poissons qui risqueraient de mourir, ce qui risque de transformer certaines en "bouillon de culture". D'après les médecins, cette onychomadèse aurait été provoquée par un soin de pieds réalisés six mois plus tôt par des petits poissons appelés Garra rufa, explique le site Pourquoi docteur. Ceux-ci se ruent alors sur ses pieds pour aspirer les peaux mortes.

Les Garra rufa, qui mesurent seulement 3 cm de long, se nourrissent de peau morte.

Par le passé, des scientifiques ont également souligné que les pédicures avec des poissons peuvent poser un risque d'infection. "Je serais surprise de trouver un seul dermatologue qui recommande une pédicure avec des Garra rufa", affirme-t-elle.
