Earlier today (7/7), ABC reported of a shootout between the LAPD and a former UCLA and National Basketball Association player at his mid-20s who had been barricaded at a residence at the Sherman Oaks area, Los Angeles.

In ABC-7's initial report, the news network named the suspect as former UCLA player Tyler Honeycutt. When officers arrived at the home, near Riverside Drive and Tyrone Avenue, the suspect opened fire on them, authorities said. He spent most of his career with Khimki Moscow with which he won the 2015 EuroCup title. Police came to the scene after his mother called to say Honeycutt was acting erratically.

Upon making contact with the man, he shot his weapon from inside the home at LAPD officers.
