A USA service member was killed and two others were injured in an "apparent insider attack" in Afghanistan on Saturday, according to the NATO Resolute Support mission.
Two more troops were wounded in the apparent attack July 7 according to an announcement from Resolute Support public affairs.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yosuf Ahmadi, said in a message to media on Saturday that the shooting, which took place in the southern Uruzgan province, was carried out by a member of the Afghan security force who acted alone, but that the group "appreciated" his attack.
The last insider attack occurred in August of 2017.

They became more rare as the number of US troops shrunk afterward, and as the military coalition added security precautions. In that incident, a Romanian soldier was injured.
Army Specialist Gabriel Conde, 22, was killed by Taliban gunfire in a province east of the Afghan capital of Kabul on April 30.
Army Sgt. 1st Class Mihail Golin, 34, was killed in a firefight with ISIS fighters in eastern Afghanistan on January 1.
