Avengers 4: Chris Evans confirms film is Captain America's last hurrah

Evans has played the American soldier-superhero, Steve Rogers, for the past eight years while holding a starring role in seven Marvel films. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor.

Whether or not this confirms his fate in the follow-up to this year's Avengers: Infinity War is up for debate. The image was then analyzed by plenty of fans who thought the Russos hid clues that would help them reveal the Avengers 4 title.

Now, after announcing last March that Avengers 4 would be his last run at Captain America, Chris Evans took to Twitter to make it official.

Avengers 4 has recently been in reshoots in the US, ahead of its release next year.

Evans has made no secret of his plan to leave the Marvel Cinematic Universe after he fulfills his contract with Avengers 4.

While the new movie will likely have many more callbacks to epic moments in Marvel Studios history, it remains to be seen if Spider-Man and Star-Lord will share any more screen time together, as both characters were wiped from existence after the events of Avengers: Infinity War. "It was an emotional day to say the least".

Sure, Evans could simply be saying a heartfelt thank you to everyone on set, but we doubt it. (14 million, six hundred and five of them, perhaps?) Given what we know of the Infinity War ending being kept tightly under wraps, even from the stars, we could all-maybe some of the cast included-be in for a lot of surprises, and not all of them good.

Avengers 4 will be released in United Kingdom cinemas on April 26, 2019.
