Giorgi eases past Alexandrova to Linz title

The fifth seed of at the Linz Open in Austria, Camila Giorgi wraps up her second WTA career title.

Giorgi is projected to move to a career-high ranking and a likely seeding at the 2019 Australian Open, and Alexandrova will move back into the Top 100.

Giorgi will play in a Linz final for the second time after the aggressive Italian defeated Alison Van Uytvanck 6-3 6-4. The Wimbledon quarterfinalist made no mistakes in her first WTA final appearance in over two years, blasting past Alexandrova who aimed to become the fourth Russian champion in Austria after Nadia Petrova (2005), Maria Sharapova (2006) and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (2015). Another break of serve saw her take command of the set - and match - before another hold saw her go 4-0 up.
