Police say a brawl between a passenger and a bus driver led to the bus plunging off a bridge in southwestern China Sunday, killing 13 people on board and leaving two missing.

Early reports said the bus had swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle.

A 10-second clip from the on-board camera released by Chongqing police showed a female passenger yelling at the male driver while he was steering, shortly after 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Footage published by the newspaper appeared to show the fight between the driver and passenger and then screams could be heard form the passengers as the bus veered out of control.

They said she hit the driver, named Ran, with her mobile phone when he refused to stop and let her off.

The first half is surveillance footage from the bus.

Tennessee man's last words in electric chair: 'Let's rock'
Vigils have been organized across Tennessee to oppose the state's plans to put an inmate to death in the electric chair. The Death Penalty Information Center lists almost two percent of electric chair executions as "botched".

More than 70 rescue boats were deployed to the scene, reported China Daily.

The wreckage of the bus was pulled out of the river from a depth of 71m on Wednesday night. Several of the passengers' bodies had to be retrieved by divers.

The crash, on well-maintained and relatively quiet bridge, has shocked China.

Social media comments on Friday widely blamed the passenger for the crash, though some also criticised the driver for reacting.

"If the lady didn't physically attack the driver, would this accident still happen to Route 22 bus?" one user wrote.
