Tragedy struck, some minutes ago, at Itafaji, Lagos Island, as a three-storey building housing a school collapsed, with pupils feared killed and over 100 trapped.

In Lagos that same year, a five-storey building still under construction collapsed, killing at least 30 people.

"It is believed that many people including children are now trapped in the building", he said.

Sani Datti, a spokesman with Nigeria's National Emergency Management Agency, said: "For now, we don't have any word on casualties as we are still busy with rescue work".
