Vienne reste pour la 10e année consécutive la ville du monde offrant la meilleure qualité de vie, selon le classement 2019 du cabinet Mercer, qui fait de nouveau la part belle aux villes européennes. Sont notamment passés au crible: la criminalité, le respect de la loi, les restrictions aux libertés individuelles, les relations avec les autres pays ainsi que la liberté de la presse.

Les données utilisées pour le classement, destiné aux entreprises qui ont du personnel expatrié, ont été analysées entre septembre et novembre 2018 et ne tiennent pas compte du mouvement des "gilets jaunes", a précisé M. Sarra. Si les villes françaises obtiennent de bonnes notes en matière de respect des libertés individuelles et de la presse, Paris et Lyon n'arrivent respectivement qu'aux 39e et 40e places du classement concernant la sécurité des personnes.

Athènes, à l'inverse, connaît la plus forte remontée sur le Vieux continent, alors que la Grèce sort lentement de la crise économique. Loin derrière, la capitale de la Russie, Moscou, n'arrive qu'en 200e position.
