DailyMail reports that Apple's wireless Airpods may pose cancer risks to wearers according to a United Nations and World Health Organization petition.
They use this to play music from a wearer's phone or tablet directly into their ears.
Philips said, 'My concern for AirPods is that their placement in the ear canal exposes tissues in the head to relatively high levels of radio-frequency radiation'.
The bubble may be bursting for AirPods users, however, as a number of scientists have come out to say the device is harmful and may have the potential of causing cancer.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer recently determined that EMF is "possibly carcinogenic" to humans, the petition adds.
It read: "Based upon peer reviewed, published research, we have serious concerns regarding the ubiquitous and increasing exposure to EMF generated by electric and wireless devices".
EMF is a similar type of radiowave to X-rays or UV but it is not as powerful or intense.

The scientists wrote, 'Numerous recent scientific publications have shown that EMF affects living organisms at levels well below most worldwide and national guidelines.
There is no conclusive evidence on the effects of EMF.
Bluetooth technology communicates to a cellular device that's usually not more than a few feet away, which means that,"it's transmitting at quite a low power level", University of Pennsylvania bioengineering professor Kenneth Foster told the Los Angeles Times in a 2016 interview about wireless headphones.
Prof Foster added that cherry-picking data to prove a link to ill-health shows "these arguments have no credibility".
But the new petitions' authors warn that even these guidelines could be risky - and much more research is needed.
"The various agencies setting safety standards have failed to impose sufficient guidelines to protect the general public, particularly children who are more vulnerable to the effects of EMF", the petition said.
Devices such as Airpods comply with legal limits for electromagnetic frequency (EMF) radio waves - but the 250 experts worry that the guidelines are too lax.
