Kyle Busch unfazed as 200th NASCAR win looms

While winning both the Xfinity Series and Cup Series races at Auto Club Speedway this weekend like he did at ISM Raceway last weekend may prove to be a bit more challenging for Busch, it is hard to see the weekend ending without him having gotten to victory lane at least once. We come out here and try to do the best we can to win.

And a massive shocker: Kyle Busch, last week's victor in Phoenix and the top Vegas favorite at Fontana, falls short of winning it all this week. In addition to being lined up to compete in the remaining 31 races on this year's Cup Series schedule (not including this weekend's race), he is also lined up to compete in four more Xfinity Series races and three more Truck Series races as well.

It's a near-lock that he will pass the King by month's end.

For the 2019 Auto Club 400, we can tell you the model is high on Clint Bowyer, who makes a strong run at the checkered flag despite going off as a long shot at 25-1 NASCAR at Fontana odds.

Meanwhile, he sits 11th in total Cup Series victories with 52, just two wins behind NASCAR Hall of Famer Lee Petty for a spot inside the top 10.

Most traditional NASCAR fans and people in the industry would say no.

Busch's impressive resume at Auto Club Speedway in both the Xfinity Series and Cup Series as well as the fact that he has earned three victories in six starts in these two series so far this season without finishing any race in lower than sixth place make him the undisputed favorite to win both of this weekend's races.

On the other side of the coin, though, the Cup Series that the King dominated from the 1960s to 1980s wasn't exactly ripe with talent like the sport is today.

Busch has spoken on it all before. It wasn't uncommon for Petty to win races by several laps - nowadays, drivers are lucky if they win by several seconds. You have to win a lot of races (in) a lot of years to be able to tally up that many.

Now, Busch certainly deserves credit for this accomplishment, even if you don't count his 200 as coming close to Petty's. The Truck Series wasn't in action this weekend.

Busch's success in the other two series will always be a part of his story, but he doesn't shy away from it. "Overall, excited to just continue on and keep winning". These two drivers are David Pearson and Kevin Harvick.

Six Nations: Ireland beat France to set up title showdown with Wales
Ireland captain Rory Best was glad to mark his final home appearance in the Six Nations Championship with a try during a 26-14 win over France in Dublin on Sunday.

Even if Busch keeps up the ridiculous pace he's on now, it would still be a long shot that he gets within sniffing distance of Pearson's 105.

"What is wonderful to me is his win percentage, that's what I find really interesting, how high of a win percentage he has". The man is nicknamed "The King" for a reason, right? Busch, like Petty did years ago, is going to step out of the vehicle one day and not get back in. Does it compare to Richard Petty? Two of his teammates - Denny Hamlin in the season-opening Daytona 500 and Kyle Busch at ISM Raceway last week - have victories already and Truex is ready to join the trophy hoisting.

Both can be true without taking anything away from either.

Veteran race auto driver Kyle Busch is off to a fast and successful start to the 2019 NASCAR season.

The World's Largest Race and Sportsbook, Westgate of Las Vegas, updated Odds to Win Monster Energy Cup Series Championship.

Distance: 200 laps, or 400 miles.

When: 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

He's already earned two runner-up finishes through the first four races of the 2019 season and that statement-making performance in California past year is on the minds of Truex and his competitors. Defending Xfinity Series champion Tyler Reddick, of Corning, Calif., leads the championship by four-points over Christopher Bell heading into Saturday's Production Alliance Group 300 (at 5 p.m. ET on FS1, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).

Worth mentioning: This race has gone to NASCAR overtime four of the last five years.

Busch has three Monster Energy Series wins at the track, including his very first series win in 2005.

Martin Truex Jr.: He doesn't have a win yet this year, but a runner-up finish at Phoenix has him up to fifth in the points standings - not bad for someone still adjusting to a "new" team.
