U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has announced that all U.S. diplomats assigned to Venezuela have departed, in an exit the State Department calls "temporary". On Thursday, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed the last remaining American diplomats have left the country.

Pompeo said the diplomatic staff would continue from outside Venezuela to work for its future, help manage the flow of humanitarian assistance and support those "bravely resisting tyranny".

China offered today to help Venezuela restore its power grid, after President Nicolas Maduro accused USA counterpart Donald Trump of cyber "sabotage" that plunged the South American country into its worst blackout on record.

Pompeo released a statement Thursday, soon after the last diplomats were reported to have left.
